This is a compact, hands-free hand wash basin designed for commercial kitchens where hygiene control is a practical requirement rather than an afterthought. The knee-operated mechanism allows kitchen staff to activate the water flow without touching any surface with their hands, which is particularly relevant in food preparation areas where cross-contamination risk needs to be managed at every touchpoint.
The basin is constructed in stainless steel and includes a drain boss, premixer valve, and spout as standard. The premixer allows hot and cold water to be blended before reaching the spout, so staff are not adjusting separate taps during service — a small but useful detail in a busy kitchen environment. The upstand is included, helping to protect the wall fixing area from water ingress over time.
In practical terms, this type of hand wash station is well suited to:
- Food preparation areas requiring frequent hand washing between tasks
- Kitchens where Food Standards Agency compliance and hygiene audit readiness are ongoing concerns
- Sites where reducing water wastage through uncontrolled tap use is a consideration
- Compact kitchen layouts where wall space is limited
At this size, it is best suited to lower-volume environments — smaller restaurant kitchens, café prep areas, or secondary wash points rather than a primary station in a high-throughput operation. For busier sites requiring a more substantial wash station, larger-format options are worth considering.
It is worth noting that the splashback is sold separately, so factor that into your installation planning. If you are unsure whether this basin suits your layout or compliance requirements, we are happy to talk it through before you order.
